The Murray

“A place to rest”

This 616 sqft. design has two large loft spaces and a downstairs living area with one bedroom and one bathroom. It was inspired by local Durham activist Pauli Murray, a person who transformed time after time and moved with fluidity through time and space. We hope for this place to serve all sorts of needs, seen and unseen, and transform as needed based on who graces its threshold.

“Hope is a word in a tuneless ditty—
A word whispered with the wind,
A dream of forty acres and a mule,
A cabin of one’s own and a moment to rest,
A name and place for one’s children
And children’s children at last . . .
Hope is a song in a weary throat.

-Dark Testament, Verse 8 — Pauli Murray
